Ordinance or Law Coverage
A coverage topic for additional repair or rebuilding costs associated with applicable building-code requirements.
Ordinance or law coverage is a policy topic to discuss when repair or rebuilding may require compliance with current codes. The TDI guide lists extra construction costs for local building codes as an endorsement topic.
Review the actual provision
Ask which increased costs qualify, whether demolition or undamaged portions are addressed and what limit or exclusions apply. A general replacement-cost provision should not be assumed to include every code-related expense.
This site does not identify your local code requirements or estimate their cost. Obtain an insurer explanation and qualified local advice as needed.
