For a mobile or manufactured home, describe the actual home and installation rather than assuming an ordinary homeowners form is the right fit. This page consolidates mobile-home and manufactured-home searches into one guide; it does not establish eligibility based on either label.

Information to gather

Bring the manufacturer’s details if available, model year, dimensions, location, foundation or anchoring information, roof and system updates, additions and current occupancy. Tell the agent whether you own or rent the land, and whether the home is being moved or installed.

These are discussion prompts, not a universal underwriting checklist. Ask the insurer what records or inspection it requires.

Compare more than structure coverage

The Texas Department of Insurance describes mobile home insurance as including the home, belongings, additional living expenses and liability. Your form may differ. Request the written terms and examine:

  • Settlement basis for the home and roof, including depreciation or special schedules.
  • Limits for contents, attached additions and detached structures.
  • All dollar or percentage deductibles and the perils they apply to.
  • Exclusions or separate coverage needs for flood, earth movement and water backup.
  • Conditions relating to occupancy, transport, installation or renovations.

Avoid a market-value shortcut

Purchase price, loan balance and rebuilding or replacement needs are not interchangeable. Ask how the insurer determines the structure limit and what costs are included. No construction prices or replacement values are supplied here.

Before requesting help

Have any lender or park requirements available and explain how the home is used. Ask whether the agent can assist with this property type; no insurer relationships or manufactured-home product availability are confirmed by this guide.
