Glossary Definition
Personal Liability Coverage
Policy protection for specified legal responsibility for injury or property damage, with exclusions and limits.
Personal liability coverage addresses certain injury or property-damage claims for which an insured is legally responsible. The TDI guide also describes defense costs, but the policy controls the scope and treatment of those costs.
Not every dispute is insured
Ask about exclusions relating to business, rentals, intentional acts or particular activities. Confirm who is insured and whether defense costs affect the liability limit.
Medical payments is a different coverage section; do not use its limit as a substitute for reviewing liability protection.
Explain your actual household and property use when requesting a quote. See homeowners insurance and landlord insurance for different occupancy discussions.
