Glossary Definition
Personal Property Coverage
Coverage for insured belongings, subject to causes of loss, limits, special categories and settlement terms.
Personal property coverage concerns belongings such as furniture, clothing and electronics. It is separate from insurance on the building.
Inventory and special limits
The TDI guide recommends an inventory and notes limits for categories such as jewelry and art. List valuable items separately and ask whether a category limit applies, whether scheduling or another endorsement is available, and what valuation documents are needed. A total belongings limit does not remove category restrictions.
Verify replacement cost or actual cash value, the deductible and the covered causes of loss. Check separate wording for belongings away from home, business property and property belonging to others.
