Glossary Definition
Insurance Premium
The amount charged for insurance for a policy term, distinct from a deductible or monthly billing arrangement.
A premium is the amount charged for insurance. The TDI guide distinguishes the premium from underwriting, the evaluation of whether and on what terms to insure a risk.
Compare the whole policy term
Ask for the full premium, policy dates, fees and payment schedule. A monthly installment is not necessarily one-twelfth of the all-in annual amount, and it does not describe the deductible.
When comparing quotes, match coverage and deductibles before treating a lower premium as a better offer. No average or minimum premium is supplied on this site.
