Glossary Definition
Water Backup Coverage
Terms to examine for sewer, drain or sump-related events, distinct from flood and plumbing-leak coverage.
Water-backup coverage is a term to review for sewer or drain backup and any other events specified in the contract. The TDI guide lists sewer or drain backup as an endorsement topic.
Ask about scope
Confirm the definition, covered events, exclusions, limit and deductible. Ask separately about sump-related events; an endorsement’s name alone does not prove they are included.
Do not treat a backup endorsement as flood insurance or as automatic coverage for all water damage.
Read sewer or drain backup questions, water damage and flood separately.
