On this page
Davenport’s online permit and inspection search lets you see a property’s permit history by address, permit number or parcel. That is valuable when you buy or insure a home, because the answers to many underwriting questions — roof age, electrical updates, additions — are in those records.
Search the permit history
Start at the city’s permits page, which leads to the building permit and inspection search, and enter your own address or parcel. Look for:
| Record | Why the agent cares |
|---|---|
| Re-roof permit | Roof age and material drive many quotes |
| Electrical service | Older panels can raise questions |
| Plumbing or water heater | Water damage risk |
| Floodplain development | Elevation work or flood-related repairs |
If something looks missing, ask the city before assuming no permit was pulled.
Floodplain rules along the Mississippi
Davenport’s floodplain page and floodplain development requirements say new construction, remodeling or major repairs in a floodplain require a floodplain development permit. If your home has been through that review, records may show elevation information useful for a flood quote.
Homeowners policies generally exclude flood. If you are near the river or a creek, ask for a separate flood quote; see our flooding question.
Older river-town homes
If your Davenport home is older, expect system questions. Agents may ask about knob-and-tube wiring, galvanized plumbing and heating type. Read our older homes guide.
State guidance and next step
The Iowa Insurance Division’s homeowners page covers exclusions and the FAIR Plan; our Iowa guide summarizes it. Then call for a free quote. HomeInsurerQuotes.org connects callers with a licensed insurance agent; carriers, pricing and eligibility vary, and not all callers qualify. No specific Davenport office or insurer is promised.
By phone
What happens when you call
A conversation lets the agent ask about your specific home instead of relying on a generic online estimate. There are no online forms to fill out.
Describe your home
Share the address, size, age, construction, and roof or system updates. You do not need every detail to start.
Talk through coverage
Explain what you want covered and ask about limits, deductibles, and exclusions that apply to your property.
Compare and decide
Ask for the written quote terms and compare them before deciding. A call or a quote does not start coverage.
